The Way

Life is a journey full of choices. And everyone is going somewhere. Some take an easy path, the others a road less traveled. One leads to destruction, the other to life. Which way are you going? People of all ages have had to decide how to deal with this choice.  Back in the day when the church was just getting started, before the word "Christian" was in the picture, people who followed Jesus were simply called "Followers of the Way". The disciples, the ones we know as "The 12", wet the pace when they left their boats, nets, families and friends to follow Christ. They were obedient and they exemplified how believers are to follow. And that's how the movement began. It was radical, and so it was described in Acts 19:23 "About that time there arose a great disturbance about the Way". What about for you? Does your life's direction cause a disturbance? Or are you content to go with the flow? Jesus told the story in Matthew 7:14, "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." He knows the challenge and has provided all we need to follow him. The initial decision to follow Christi is pivotal without a doubt, but as long as we are in this world, we are constantly deciding which nature to feed, what got to serve, which way to go. It's a process. Senior I will provide an opportunity to step back, check the landscape of life across the ages, evaluate where you are and how to walk in The Way today.

The Perfect Storm

When the rain starts pouring, the thunder rolls, and the lightning bolts…where is your faith? The Bible clearly teaches that God is with us in the storms of life. During A&A 2008, we will focus on hearing his voice through the pouring rain and discover ways to keep our faith alive in the midst of the storm. If you have never attended A&A, you will need a sleeping bag, a fishing pole, and tackle, swim gear and a desire to get to know God more fully. More details will be sent to you about 2 weeks before we depart to Lake Barkley. Get your registrations in early because it fills up fast.

Signs

We are very accustomed to seeing signs all around us. We cannot drive down the road without seeing signs everywhere. Signs warn us of detours or curves in the road ahead; they let us know that there are restaurants or gas stations at the next exit; they tell us what the speed limit is and where we can pass the vehicle in front of us. Signs tell us what's on the menu, what's on sale, how much it costs and where to find it. Signs tell us if it's legal or illegal; if its safe or hazardous; if it's cool or un-cool. God has put signs on the road of our lives to help us along the way. These signs guide us, protect us, instruct us, caution us, challenge us and convict us. We will be pointing out what some of those signs are and how important it is for all of us to pay attention to the signs God has put out there for us. We will have an awesome time exploring nature and the great outdoors. We will have the best meals on the planet and experience luxurious 5 billion star accommodations. We will spend one day off campus splashing around in the Elkhorn Creek. It's going to be great! If you enjoy nature, camping, hiking, and cold showers, then this week is for you. But if dealing with bugs, dirt, walking and no electricity, is a problem then maybe you should check out another week.

Worst Week Ever

Worst week ever? That doesn't sound like a very appealing theme for a week of camp, does it? The truth is that in our everyday lives, many days and even weeks turn out worse than we expect them to. Why can't things turn out the way I want them? Why do bad things have to happen to me? Come out and joins us for what will be an amazingly fun week of camp! Some of our activities will probably take us off the camp property again. We'll learn about some of the "horror stories" of the Bible, and how God can use bad situations for the good of those who follow him. You'll see that we're not guaranteed that life will be easy, but life will be worth it with God on our side!

Serving God "Without Doubt"

If you enjoy hunting and fishing and want to learn more about the facts regarding God's creation this is your week! Along with daily scripture and bible study, we plan to study a book titled "Out With Doubt". This book compares the facts about creation to the theory of evolution. It is very interesting. We will also be having daily outdoor activities such as archery, fishing, skeet shooting, and other good stuff. I look forward to seeing you!! Boys Only!
